DescriptionDEVITA provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection services for the renovation of this HUD senior housing high rise building in Durham, NC. The project included all new HVAC systems for the apartments, a new emergency call system, plumbing and electrical infrastructure upgrades, and replacing failing infrastructure. The project was designed for energy efficiency and included removing the central water heating system of electric fired boilers with new gas fired boilers, and inefficient fan coil units with new through the wall units, which will bring outside air into each apartment. As part of DEVITA's due diligence, an arc flash and thermal study was performed to determine what electrical equipment needed replacement as part of the renovation. This enabled the owner to save money by replacing only those components at end of life.
