DescriptionDEVITA was awarded Phase 1 MEP design for the 26,760-square-foot renovation of the W.S. Mims Community Center, enhancing The City of McCormick’s recreation department offerings. The project includes a large community room, a new cafeteria, additional concession areas, a spacious meeting room, multipurpose classrooms, upgraded restrooms, renovated locker rooms, restored basketball and volleyball courts, and a new parking lot. The center honors W.S. Mims, who played a pivotal role in establishing the Black education system in McCormick County. The site, originally a historic school founded in 1954, now serves as a vital community hub.
